The Da Vinci Code

I am reviewing the conspiracy thriller The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown which is a very good novel which I bought at a car boot sale. Despite his claim at the beginning of the book that this is based on a factual elements I think you have to take that with a pinch of salt but nevertheless it is a fantastic thriller. In the old days these type of religious conspiracy thrillers were very popular & when this book was published it became the popular till that time ultimately between eventually by 50 Shades Of Grey. This book was a sequel to Angels & Demons & the films based on both novels were hugely successful. They feature the historian Robert Langdon who works at the Louvre when there is a murder and the secret known only by 3 men all of whom are murdered someone is trying to keep a secret. Some of the story like that Jesus & Mary Magdalene having a bloodline and that Jesus was never crucified I think is pure nonsense although the only way to prove it one way or the other would be to go back in a time machine and see for one’s self. A lot of it is just a run of the mill thriller albet with the religious connotations. Da Vinci comes from the fact there is a Priory of Sion which used to contain Sir Isaac Newton & Leonardo Da Vinci among its members although I think it is probably a rather dull society dressed up into something exciting to make a good story. As pure entertainment this is great and there have have been quite a few documentaries about what is in this book with them mostly bebunking it. I think I prefer Digital Fortress another very successful book by Dan Brown to this book. I think that is his best book.
